It is one thing to create projects for our customers, but a lot of the time, we are blown away by the ideas and projects that our customers create and come up with.
At 'You Can Folk It' our angel policy is very relaxed and our mission is to educate and share the skills and techniques of Folk Art Painting - What our customers and 'Folkers' decide to do with those skills is entirely up to them.
All that we ask is that what you create is not mass produced (meaning we ask that you do not create prints of your work). The reason for this is that the history of Folk Art is one steeped in tradition, it's beauty is in it's uniqueness.... it's charm is in each hand painted brushstroke and occasional imperfection. To mass produce these designs would take away the essence of Folk Art.
This is something our customers take to heart and embrace and to see all the cards, projects and paintings they create is nothing short of magical.
Christmas 2020 is going to be rather different for so many as a result of the pandemic, but that hasn't stopped so many of you from creating and crafting.
In this blog post we would like to share with you some of the beautiful work we have seen across social media in the last few months.
Tina is the queen of glass painting! Give her an old jar or bottle and she can up-cycle it in to something beautiful. These hand painted jars make such a wonderful centrepiece for any Christmas home.
Not content with adding designs from our kits, Tina has used the brushstrokes she learnt to create unique designs like this beautiful winter inspired cone cluster. The designs you can create with a comma stroke are endless! To see more of her creations, head over to her Facebook page.
Nazlie over at Cositas Bonitas has the most gorgeous shop in Devizes. Selling a range of goodies from other makers, she also sells her own creations like these festive personalised reindeer. We love how she uses dotty rose wreaths to give them a little festive twist. If you don't live near Devizes, she also sells her work here.
Rachel attended one of our Ambassador workshops a while ago and there's been no stopping her since. She plays around with designs but has a soft spot for our delicate lace design.
Creating your own Christmas cards, gifts and decorations gives you so much freedom - from using a loved one's favourite colours to opting for a rustic design like Rachel has.
Folk Art and dotting can be combined with so many different crafts and materials and these hanging ornaments from Hanabananadesigns reflect that. We love the personal touch the vinyl lettering gives and the roses look just beautiful.
How gorgeous are these Christmas decorations! Hana has decorated them beautifully for the festive season and they are for sale in her Etsy shop.
It wouldn't be Christmas without a herd of reindeer! Jackie has used her dotting tool to decorate these freestanding reindeer to get them all ready for a Christmas mantelpiece!
Rhubarb and Custard crafts has been preparing for Christmas for a while like any good crafter! We aren't surprised her order books are shut. These ceramic baubles hand painted with a few dotty designs got us feeling Christmassy back in September - we just love them.
Claire recently discovered our Bauble design painting kit and did a fabulous job painting the Poinsettia inspired design. There's nothing like a bit of sparkle to make you feel festive.
Delighted with the results of her bauble design, Claire did a fantastic job of adapting the pattern to decorate this plain wooden box. This is a great idea to personalise something for a gift or for yourself!
Inspired by our scroll tutorial from the Masterclass for beginner painters, Rene has created these beautiful Christmas cards for loved ones.
Thank you to each and every customer who has shared their creations with us across social media, you all come up with such wonderful ideas just from using the same tools and kits as starting points. We are truly grateful for all your enthusiasm, support and inspiration in what has been a challenging year for so many. We don't know where we would have been without our creativity and yours!
Until next time x
