As another Beginners Progress not Perfection course and our first Intermediates course comes to an end, our students find their creative wings and begin to develop their own designs and paint their own ideas.
You see, the designs you learn in our Masterclasses are just the beginning. The beauty of Folk Art painting is that you only need to learn a small number of brushstrokes to be able to paint endless ideas. The comma stroke alone can become daisies, roses, dragonflies and so much more.
We understand however, that not everyone feels confident going it alone. Over the last few weeks, we have been painting a few new designs and thought we would share them with you here. So, if you have got our Beginners Masterclass and feel like you need a little helping hand, we've got you ;)
Our lace heart design
We created this heart design to use with the cross hatching technique taught in our lace lesson. We added lettering in the centre but you could leave it blank or add a stamp or vinyl lettering. If you would like to have a go at this design yourself, you can find the pattern here.
Daisy wreath
When we have designed wreaths before, we often point them towards the centre of the circle. Here however, we changed that to create this lovely design with vintage vibes. During our Progress not Perfection course, we discuss the different rules you often have to consider when creating a new design, some of which we incorporated here.
Our star doodle
Anything can be filled with brushstrokes. Here, we used a star ornament we had as the template and tin lid to create our shapes before filling them with brushstrokes in different colours. Not everyone you paint for will appreciate flowers or teddies even if you did paint them so this is a great option.
If you want to have a go at this design too, grab your liner brush and use this pattern which you can find here.
